CONTEXT:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission the successful
candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient
administrative support to the Operations and Programme Unit.
CORE FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Coordinate the implementation of an IOM Ireland Communications
Strategy through high-impact, innovative communications activities,
materials and other communication tools ? formal and informal;
traditional and online.
* Produce and regularly update a full range of communications and
information materials to be used by IOM Ireland?s team of regional
outreach consultants and other programme partners to inform potential
returnees and other categories of migrants of IOM?s voluntary return
option.
* Support the IOM Ireland?s online outreach strategy through the
proper functioning and regular update of its web pages; through
intense and regular social media presence and activity (IOM
Ireland?s Tweeter and Facebook accounts; others if necessary);
providing statistical and narrative reports on website and social
media usage on a regular basis. ?
* Conduct on-going monitoring and strategic adaptation of the
communications strategy as required by general migration dynamics in
Ireland and audience response to IOM?s outreach. Draft written
project-specific information materials, reports and documents related
to the programmes and activities implemented by IOM Ireland; and
ensure their proactive distribution.
* Prepare and/or coordinate with service providers the design,
production and printing of print, short video and other online
material, which may include leaflets, flyers, posters, short clips,
FAQs and other forms of written or online information.
* Prepare and produce IOM Ireland?s internal and external public
information materials - newsletters reports, statistics and similar
? and ensuring their regular and efficient distribution to donors,
other relevant groups and individuals.
* Develop and maintain networking partnership for sustainable
co-operation with key media and journalists in Ireland and globally.
* Organize and participate in regular outreach visits, information
and technical support sessions for potential returnees and service
providers - monthly or more frequently.
* Assist IOM Ireland?s Chief of Mission and other IOM Ireland
colleagues in promoting IOM activities in Ireland; participate in
workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to IOM in Ireland and
represent IOM wherever and whenever required. ?
* Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
?
EDUCATION
* Completed high school degree, from an accredited institution with 6
years of relevant working experience in a similar position, or
* University degree in Communications, Journalism, International
Development, Social and/or Political Science or a related field, from
an accredited academic institution, with 4 years of relevant working
experience in a similar position
EXPERIENCE
* Relevant experience in the field of communications / media / PR /
international development / human rights / assistance to vulnerable
groups an advantage.
* Prior work in assistance to migrant population an advantage.
* Excellent communications and public speaking / presentation /
motivational skills.
* Ability to draft information materials, reports, other current
documents quickly and clearly. ?
* Proven track record of designing and implementing high-impact
communications strategies and activities with palpable results and
measurable outputs in terms of changing information levels,
perceptions and attitudes and, ultimately, behaviour or targeted
audiences;
* Excellent knowledge of current office and graphic design software,
other multi-media production software and tools.
LANGUAGES
* Fluency in English is required. Any other IOM official language is
an advantage
